Finals Week

We stumble across the quad

In our oversized sweatshirts and pants

That we’ve worn for three days

Hair matted, eyes manic

Brains swelled from too much note taking

And studying

Will we sleep tonight?

Doubtful

By moonlight we strain to read

The small notes inside margins

The highlighted sentences of great importance

The equations and deep theories of

Life and Death

There is no time to sleep

It’s flipping finals week!

Fall

 Written November 2008

Leaves fall all around me
A harvest of colors swirling
I am standing
Alone
Wind whipping
Rain in sheets
I stand and stare
Up to the sky
Thinking of how the rain
Is almost washing
Away the words
That ring in my head
Hate
Anger
Jealously
Loneliness
Scared
Worried
Stupid
Suffocating
Anxious
I feel as if I am being punished
For things unknown
Still staring, I fall
Brokenness
